George Washington's Spy ~ Chapter 8

How very, very scary!  The boys have been caught by Patriots
Moses and his crew have the boys captive but at least they are willing to help them find their friends.  I'm just wondering what Moses has in mind for the boys.  He tells the boys that they'll have to help the Patriots...if not, they'll die!  "You say you're a Patriot?  Well, soon you'll have a chance to prove it!!!"  I wonder what he means?

Will he send them into an adventure that will get them killed?  Will they get to fight in the Battle of Dorchester?  Will they get to see George Washington again and maybe even return his socks?  So many questions!  What are some of your questions or predictions?

George Washington's Spy by Elvira Woodruff

In class, we've begun reading George Washington's Spy by Elvira Woodruff.

The Adventure Club is transported by rowboat back in time to the American Revolution where 10-year-old Matt and friends get caught up in a Patriot spy ring while his younger sister and her friends are rescued by a Loyalist family. The boys are immediately sympathetic to the Patriot cause and agree to help deliver a message concerning the Battle of Dorchester.  The girls, on the other hand, are horrified to be staying with “the enemy,” but who is right and who is wrong becomes more complex as the story unfolds.
We are in the middle of Chapter 2 and the story is being set.  We know that these are present day children, with homework over the weekend, a most cruel and unusual punishment.  They are to prepare a report on the Battle of Dorchester and try to understand Loyalists to the British Crown.  I am interested to know how exactly they travel back in time.  My prediction is that it may have to do with the really old book they are using to study or maybe the broken spy glass.  Hmmm...I can't wait to find out!
